We are delighted to honor Judy Raney as our October Volunteer of the month. Judy has been the Class Assistant Coordinator since the Fall of 2009. Class Assistants provide assistance to our Instructors by taking attendance and providing needed help to our students during classes. Judy’s responsibilities include finding, training and scheduling our enthusiastic class assistant volunteers for all classes. This is not an easy position and Judy performs admirably for which we are ever grateful.

Judy and her husband Ed first came to Sun City when they bought a vacation villa in 2001; splitting their time between Rock Hill, SC, and Sun City. They became full-time residents in 2004. They’ve lived in the Riverbend community since 2007, where Judy is currently the Neighborhood Rep.

Shortly after moving here Judy and Ed attended a few Monthly Meetings and Computer classes. Judy considers herself a curious computer user rather than a techie. Volunteering with the Computer Club and the Education Committee gives her a chance to keep up with computing technology while helping others. What devices does she use? An aging Mac laptop, a Trac phone, and a cellular iPad Mini. She’s considering a Chromebook to take on their many travels.

Judy and Ed are enthusiastic travelers taking two big trips a year. In addition, they love cruising and sponsor trips with the Travel Club. Judy is past second Vice President + Secretary of the Ballroom Dance Club. In her spare time, she and Ed spend as much time as possible with their 11 grandchildren, ages 2 to 22. And when you see her, ask about the hotdog stand.
