“I volunteer because I continue to learn” says, Nancy Austin our Volunteer of the Month. You will recognize Nancy from the many hours she devotes to Help Sessions assisting Club members with their PCs, Android cell phones, Facebook, and Google Photos.
Nancy began volunteering by working with the Club Fair and then as an Instructor teaching an Android and then a Facebook class. “I have learned even more from others at the Club and am grateful to our instructors and helpers who continue to add to my knowledge base so that I may share this with our Club members.”
Coming to Sun City from Virginia in 2010, the Computer Club is not the only volunteer activity where Nancy participates. She is also devotes her time to Staying Connected, a community volunteer organization providing resources and assistance to our Sun City residents. Nancy primarily does intake interviews and drives members to appointments. For fun, you might have seen her in the Sun City Chorus or Community Theater, on stage or doing the miking. She is also a past member of the Sundancers.
Nancy’s professional experience with computers has been working part time at a financial planning firm, for a government defense contractor, and a church office, as well as when she managed her own elder care business in Virginia after retiring from United Airlines.
